One more story about immigration to Ukraine

When I decided to move to Ukraine in 2017, I had to pass through residence permit obtaining. Every country has an immigration laws. Ukraine is not an exception.  Because with my German passport I could stay in Kyiv (it is better to call the capital of Ukraine in such a way instead of Kiev) only for 90 days during 180 day period. So without a residence permit I had the right to reside in Ukraine only for 180 days during a year. And that was not the right solution for me, because I liked Ukraine and intended to live there. I have found a solicitor that explained me all the process. The best solution for me was to obtain a temporary residence permit under a work permit. But I had to establish a company in Ukraine for this purpose. And that was good because actually I needed a company registration in Kyiv for my business. The good thing was that it is very easy to make a company registration in Ukraine. But I just found a good corporate and immigration lawyer and he take care of everything. All the process was done within a week. There are no requirements about the minimum investment amount. It is up to You to decide how much to invest in Ukrainian LLC (or LTD, which is the same in Ukraine). Also you do not need to find a local partner to establish a legal entity. It is possible to own a 100 % of shares in Ukrainian business. I know it is important because previously I had a company in UAE in Dubai emirate and I had to find a citizen of United Arab Emirates to be my partner. That is ridiculous because I don’t want some guy to own a share in my business just because he is a citizen of some country. That is my company and I am the owner. Also consider that if You own there is no need to pay taxes in Ukraine if a company makes no activity. No activity, no revenue, no taxes. The best thing is the tax rate, which is 5%. I am a programmer (mostly relied to blockchain) and now having this company I can invoice even my US of Israeli clients. Very easy to open a bank account and to manage it. But lets get back to the residence permit. After I the company formation, I had a right to apply for a work permit. That one is issued maximum for 3 years. Than I had to go out from Ukraine to obtain a long-term visa. Even if I do not need a visa to come to Ukraine, still I had to obtain that one. It is a special type of visa that is issued for 90 days and only that visa give the right to apply for permanent or temporary residence permit. Having a work permit, You can get that visa in any country where is an embassy of Ukraine.
Consider that it is very important to be registered during one month since Your Ukrainian residence permit has been issued. If you will not do it, you will have to pay at leasе $200 fine. And does not mean that after that you may not be registered. Registration is needed because the state of Ukraine need to know where the foreign citizen live. I think it is a right require due to safety reasons. Ukrainian immigration law seems to be a strange and complicated. So it is always better to make the whole process with qualified solicitor.
After I have obtained all the docs, I have applied for a temporary residence permit. And bingo, now I can stay here as much as I want. After 3 years I will have to prolong it, but it shall be easier. 
The main thing in that process is a good lawyer. I was lucky to meet a great one. He made all the documents by himself and all I had to do is to sign and pay. He explained me everything about taxation, important things about company management, bank account etc. Consider that when You have a working company in Ukraine, an accountant is a must have. But only for working company it is needed.
Honestly Ukraine is really amazing. And it is very and very cheap country. I would say that it is a real paradise for It specialists. And Kyiv is becoming much more beautiful. It is safe here. Nothing to worry about, just do not let people know that You have a lot of money. It is very close to EU, and it takes me less than 2 hours to get to Munich.

Business acquisition process in Ukraine.

I would like to share with you my experience in company purchase in Ukraine. I make an import of electronic equipment from China all over the world, but mostly to Europe, India and Middle East countries. Ukraine seemed to be a good and fast growing market. Since 2016 the economy was growing for more than 3% per year. Also there is no much competition in Ukraine and there was a chance to create a business that could generate a good profit.
